5/11/2023 0 Comments Ghost Country by Patrick LeeOne of these fantastic technologies, tied to time travel, accidentally uncovers a conspiracy on a grand scale. The original debut thriller focused on what would happen if people had access to technology millions of years advanced. Ghost Country combines conspiracy, time travel, and the fantastic.Īlthough Ghost Country can stand alone as a novel, it relies in part on the deeply rich universe created in Lee's first novel, The Breach. Such well-intended latter purposes are partly tapped in Patrick Lee's techno-thriller Ghost Country. It also occurs around power lines and has been explored for weaponization in the past. And some say he was extremely close to collecting the natural ELF produced by the planet. Buried deep beneath federal agencies as one of the darkest black programs, technologies tapping it can theoretically target individuals and groups (with or without implants) to be used for mind control, physiological damage, electronic failures, weather manipulation, and free energy.ĮLF was initially discovered by Nikola Tesla. Extreme Low Frequency (ELF) conspiracies have existed for some time.

As far as books/stories/novellas go only WOOL1 and WOOL 3 really stand alone. The author asks at the end of this omnibus if the reader would rate and review each book separately. The second stupid thing about SILO (okay WOOL but my name is better) is that it is serialised into individual books. Because it is a much better name that will actually appeal to the target market. Hereafter I shall refer to the book as such. I shall rename the book for the author SILO. Given the subtitles are all knitting related (unravel, cast off etc) I think the book should have been called "knitting" and then the book would have never sold a single copy. There is one tiny insignificant piece where a character is knitting but she isn't even using wool, she knits with cotton. There are no sheep in this book, there is no wool in this book. It is like a garage band was after a clever name. The writing is good, the story is original, I highly recommend this book. There are two stupid things about this book, neither have to do with the writing. While he showed a lot of promise while he was in high school, he decided to pursue accounting when he went to college and writing took a backseat. The manuscripts that would follow it were published in some form or other in the course of his career. He wrote his first novel as a high schooler, though he never published it. Apart from being a voracious reader he has always been a writer and remembers the disconcert he caused among his teachers in elementary school, when he transformed a story about hockey-playing mice playing into an action story. Needing something to read while commuting to his accounting job in Calgary, he turned to self-published authors. By the time he was an adult, he had run out of his favorite traditionally published authors such as Ian Douglas and David Weber. It is from the library that he first got interested in reading and writing. Growing up, he remembers that his parents had a library full of science fiction works.
